The City of St. Catharines is moving forward with exciting Parks Renewal Plan projects to revitalize four parks throughout the city: Shauna Park, Guy Road Park, Barley Drive Park and Joseph L. McCaffery Park.

These improvements reflect our commitment to creating inclusive, safe, and accessible spaces where everyone can play and enjoy the outdoors. Proposed plans include a new multi-use court (tennis, basketball and ball hockey) and play equipment at Guy Road Park, new multi-use courts (basketball and ball hockey) at Shauna Park, and new play equipment at Barley Drive Park and Joseph L. McCaffery Park.

The Parks Renewal Plan projects represent more than $2 million in investments, with upgrades planned to renew play equipment, and install multi-use courts and other amenities. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our parks are modern, inviting, and accessible to residents of all ages and abilities.

♿Our Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusivity

We’re excited to move forward with these renewal projects to make these spaces even more enjoyable and accessible for users of all ages and abilities.

These renewals align with the City’s strategic plan. Parks Renewal Plan projects include a new multi use tennis court at Guy Road Park, multi use basketball courts at Shauna Park, and new play equipment at Barley Drive Park and Joseph L. McCaffery Park.

These projects will add accessible and inclusive elements to more parks, creating a network of neighbourhood and city wide spaces that promote a sense of belonging and ensure all residents have access to safe and enjoyable play areas.

We look forward to working with you to renew these neighbourhood and city-wide parks into spaces where everyone feels welcome. Be sure to check back for updates, including finalized concept plans, as the projects progress.

ℹ️Attend a Public Information Centre

To gather input from the community, we will be hosting two Public Information Centres (PICs) where residents can learn more about the project, view draft concept plans, and provide feedback. The PICs will be held on:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 4 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, Irene Locke Program Room
425 Carlton St., St. Catharines

Drop in at any time during the scheduled hours to explore concept boards for each park. City staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the project in detail.

💻Share Your Feedback Online

We want to hear from everyone, even if you cannot attend a PIC. In the widgets to the right, you’ll find project details and draft concept plans for each park. Below, you'll find a space to share your thoughts. Your input will help shape the final design and ensure our parks reflect the needs and wishes of the community.
