Note: the submission period for the Rain Barrel Sale and Free Tree Giveaway is now closed. Thank you to all who participated, staff will be reviewing the findings to help inform considerations on the future of these two programs.

Residents may have noticed, thanks to the impact of COVID-19, two spring traditions were absent in the city this year: the City's annual Rain Barrel Sale and its annual Tree Giveaway.

The barrel sale has been offered every spring for years, with the City subsidizing the cost of rain barrels for residents and offering them at a price of $40. At the same time in May we have offered up free trees for area residents to plant as part of our efforts to grow the St. Catharines urban canopy. While the tree giveaway will continue this year, with a regularly-scheduled giveaway in October, the rain barrel sale has thus far been cancelled. We are currently looking to the future of these two programs.

That's where you come in. We want to hear from you about these two initiatives as we look to their future. Are you still interested in purchasing a rain barrel this year? What about a free tree? Complete the quick survey below between Aug. 7 and Aug. 21 and help us plan for the future of #OurGreenSTC.

This year, the circumstancing around COVID-19 had cancelled the spring event. The City is requesting your input. The fall tree giveaway is planned for October 2020. We would like to know if the residents of St. Catharines would still be interested in purchasing a rain barrel at that time.
