Non-Traditional Crosswalks
Crosswalks are more than just paint on pavement, they help keep people safe and, in some cases, reflect who we are as a community.
As interest in non-traditional crosswalks continues to grow, the City is developing a draft policy that outlines the process for evaluating requests for non-traditional crosswalks, the approval process, and specifics related to funding, as well as implementation timing, materials, and design.
The draft policy is designed to help support an efficient, consistent and equitable determination of candidate locations and designs for non-traditional crosswalks, while addressing City Council's request to have a policy that ensures the process maximizes fairness, transparency, accessibility and safety for all road users as well as participants in the installation of the crosswalk.
To read the draft policy, please click the Documents link at the right (or below if you are on a mobile device), or click here.
